Step By Step Guide To Change The Light Bulb
#1. Turn Off The Main Power
This is the first and most crucial step for changing the light bulb as a single mistake can be harmful. So, turn off the power for your Safety.
Always Remember, Your Safety is Important.
#2. Wait Few Minutes
After switching off the main power, wait for a few minutes as the bulb might be very hot if you have an incandescent light bulb. So, let it cool down before removing it from the holder.
However, if you have LED Bulb then you don’t have to wait longer.
#3. Use A Ladder
In case you have a high ceiling then using a ladder can be very beneficial as the chairs are not that comfortable for such work.
#4. Take Out The Old Bulb
Now, this process can be a little tricky depending on the type of bulb holder you have at your home.
There are three types of the bulb holder.
For Bayonet mount, lightly but firmly hold the bulb and gently push upwards by turning it anticlockwise at the same time. After a few seconds, it will come out.
If you have screw fitting, gently rotate the bulb anticlockwise until it comes out of the holder.
#5. Plug In The Replacement Bulb
After removing the old bulb, lightly but firmly put the bulb in the socket and keep turning clockwise until it gets locked in the bulb holder.
Now double-check if it is perfectly placed in the holder by gently pushing it. In case it shakes then re-do this process again.
#6. Turn On The Main Power
After the whole process, turn on the main power.
But if you have touched or changed any wire then I highly recommend you to check twice to avoid any power circuit.
#7. Throw The Bulb
Now, throw the bulb properly in a secure packet so as not to cause any injury to other people. As people sometimes throw bulbs in their backyard which can affect small animals and maybe humans too.
For Incandescent and Halogen Bulbs, try to pack them properly and put them in the garbage bin as these bulbs are not recyclable plus properly disposing of them can prevent any injury in case of breakage.
In the case of LED bulbs, you don’t need to be extra cautious as they don’t carry harmful substances and can be 100% recyclable which means you are not harming the environment.
Conclusion
Changing the bulb is very easy and simple if done properly by following the safety guidelines. You can go for battery operated desk lamps or Himalayan salt lamps as they are very convenient and easy to use plus less hassle while changing bulbs.
